A lot of people say UFO is a better Blue Moon, and it very well may be, but UFO doesn't hold a candle to witbiers from La Trappe or Unibroue or St. If someone hands me one, I'll gladly drink it, but I won't be buying it again as there are a lot of better options. Mouthfeel is fine, if lacking the effervescence I expect from Belgian witbiers. UFO White is a Witbier style beer brewed by Harpoon Brewery & Beer Hall in Boston, MA. Beer rating: 82 out of 100 with 1594 ratings. Taking a sip of UFO, and the flavours just line up and announce themselves like roll call - wheat, here orange, here coriander, here. UFO White from Harpoon Brewery & Beer Hall. Taking a sip of Unibroue, the flavours mingle and dance across your toungue. I had it at the same time as I had Unibroue's Witbier, and the Unibroue had a delicacy and complexity to the flavours that UFO didn't. It's simple, straightforward, and a little boring. ![]() Styled after an English IPA but brewed with distinctly American hops, it’s citrusy, refreshing, and perfectly balanced as perfect on a Cape Cod beach as it is in a VT ski lodge or Boston dive bar. The aroma is primarily orange, but rather than orange peel it comes across more like an orange creamsicle.Ī sip brings forth wheat malt, orange notes, and a hint of coriander. New England’s Original IPA As enjoyable today as it was in ‘93, IPA is a regional favorite and a craft beer classic. Pours a hazy orange with only the barest traces of head that disappear instantly. If offered I’d probably be willing to have another but it doesn’t come close to bumping the Allagash White or a few others from my rotation. While not a challenging beer it is reasonably refreshing and enjoyable. Score: 82 with 1,594 ratings and reviews. Harpoon UFO White Ale 12pk 12oz Cans: Its a Belgian witbier with 4.8 ABV, spiced with orange peel and coriander. The finish begins as the sweetness and light spice begin to fade, to be followed by the crackery malt, leaving a nicely dry citrus tinged and slightly bitter ending. UFO White is a Witbier style beer brewed by Harpoon Brewery & Beer Hall in Boston, MA. The mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied and lightly prickly with the active carbonation. The touch of sweetness is blending nicely with a bit of spiciness and the coriander. The flavors are much as expected from the nose with some orange zest riding on the wheat and crackery malt. There’s also just a bit of coriander and spiciness in the background. The aromas include some citric zest and some wheat and crackery malt. At first sipping creates arches and lots of scattered patches of lacing but eventually there are only scattered small spots, some of which slide back down to the liquid. The lightly hazy golden yellow beer pours out into a Duvel glass with a 1/2” bright white head that soon recedes eventually to a thin island of foam on the surface and leaves only a ring with a few spots and legs of lacing on the sides of the glass. ![]()
